| 06.13.2007 | New Covenant Clinic building marks opening with ribbon-cutting ceremony A recent blessing service and ribbon-cutting ceremony helped mark the official opening of the newest Covenant Clinic in the Cedar Valley located at 3562 Lafayette Road in Evansdale.
Mayor John Mardis was on hand for the event.
“This opening means the excitement of new investment and the ripple effects it will have throughout our community,” he said. “Now, we have choice in easily accessible, affordable, quality health care in the city of Evansdale.”
Dr. Arla McVicker will be the clinic provider. She comes to the Cedar Valley from Ohio with her husband and three children. McVicker is a veteran of the armed forces serving 10 years in the Army Reserves/National Guard in Ohio.
She also served three years active duty as a physician in the Air Force and has 14 years of experience as a family practice physician.
“I grew up in a small town in southern Ohio, so I feel comfortable in a setting like Evansdale,” McVicker said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone here, and I appreciate the support the community and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare has already shown me.”
The real estate agent, Jim Benda of Remax Commercial Cedar Valley, and Huff Contracting, the general contractor behind the facelift of the Evansdale Mall, also were on hand for the ribbon cutting.
